WOMEX Gran Canaria will feature the Italian music scene
Italy will reveal its musical potential at the music fair WOMEX in Gran Canaria from October 21 to 25, bringing various artists to the exhibition.
The country will participate in WOMEX through various activities, networking spaces and showcases of artists such as Davide Ambrogio or Nuhara. Seven associations from all over Italy will be present at WOMEX, representing an increasingly relevant industry at an international level
The Italian music scene will land again at WOMEX, the most important fair and professional meeting of the music industry in the world. This edition, which will be held from October 21 to 25 in Las Palmas de Gran Canariawill once again have the presence of Italy through various organizations and delegations, with the coordination and financing of the ICE – Italian Agency for Foreign Trade and the financing of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI).
The Italian delegation will organize activities, meetings and networking spaces at WOMEX with the aim of making visible the creativity and folkloric diversity of the country, in addition to generating a space for professional exchange, international opening and strengthening strategic alliances in the live music sector.
The Italian presence at WOMEX brings together the main agents of the country’s musical ecosystem through the collaboration of key entities. One of these key figures that will be present at WOMEX is Assomusica (Italian Association of Live Music Promoters and Producers), the national association that brings together organizers and producers of live shows to defend the sector and promote the internationalization of talent. AssoConcerti (Italian Live Music Association), for its part, brings together major promoters to strengthen and consolidate the market for major concerts within and outside its borders.
Territorial articulation is reinforced through Puglia Culture and its Puglia Sounds program, a pioneering public initiative dedicated to the support, revitalization and export of music from the Puglia region in fairs and international circuits. Emilia-Romagna Music Commission will be present in alliance with ATER Fondazione, promoting the training, production and external projection of the performing arts of Emilia-Romagna.
The fabric focused on roots music and the Mediterranean space is completed with Italian World Beat – Musiconnect Italy, a platform that organizes professional meetings and showcases to connect Italian talent with international programmers. And representing the south of the country, the Sicily Music Conference is a forum that addresses innovation, technology and sustainability to position the Mediterranean on the global musical map. The seventh and last organization that will be in Gran Canaria will be the Italian World Music Network, the national network that brings together festivals, labels and professionals dedicated to regional sound heritage and its projection on the global circuit.
The complete program for the Italian pavilion will be revealed in the coming weeks. Furthermore, the showcases at the fairgrounds of two of the most interesting and avant-garde musical projects on the Italian scene have already been confirmed. We will be able to see names like Davide Ambrogiowho will present his innovative musical language, in which polyphony, ancestral rhythms and vocal research dialogue with live electronics and percussion, and the Sicilian trio Nuhara who will present his acclaimed debut “Branch”.
