Wolf Alice: "A new song at Axl Rose"

Wolf Alice: “A new song at Axl Rose”

The Wolf Alice are back, with a new single “Bloom baby Bloom”which anticipates their next record chapter, “The Clearing”, out on August 29th and already available. The song introduces the project in a powerful way: it is an ode to growth and evolution, in music and art. It is their first song in three years and, with its bass riff that does with counterattack to the plane, it is brilliant and fragrant of Heavy Rock. A sound and interpretative jewel. “I wanted a rock song, I wanted it to have the performance as a focus, just like a rock song and I wanted to sing it like Axl Rose. But above all I wanted to sing a song about being a woman, “observes Ellie Rowell.”In the past I used the guitar like a shield, playing it was perhaps a way to refuse the cliché of the woman in a bandbut this time I wanted to focus on my voice as a rock tool and therefore it was liberating to put the guitar down and reach a point where I no longer feel the need to prove to be a musician“.

The video of “Bloom Baby Bloom” is a collaboration with the renowned Alt-Pop Colin Solal Cardo directorfamous for his works with Charli Xcx, Robyn, Christine & The Queens and Phoenix. Clip deconstructs a classic rock performance inspired by Bob Fosse and all that jazz, e He sees an Ellie performance at the center of a group of dancers, with choreography signed by the choreographer winning an Emmy Ryan Heffington (Euphoria, be, Kenzo + Margaret Qualley). Recorded last year in Los Angeles with the winner of Grammy and producer Greg Kurstin, “The Clearing” wants to be a timeless album. Playful and serious, ironic and direct, represents a significant evolution for Wolf Alice, a band that has already been able to tell the experience of becoming adults through themes such as love, loss and ties with each other. It is a classic pop/rock album that winks at the 70s, but which remains firmly anchored to this. “If the Fleetwood Macs wrote today a disc in northern London, it would probably play similar to this album, characterized, from a sound point of view, from the elimination of superfluous details or tinsel“, We read in the presentation.

A long way was made by that 2013since the Northern London quartet has emerged as a young band ready to speak loudly for its generation. Now, with their fourth album, “The Clearing”, the Wolf Alice want to reach the peak of their artistic maturity. If the melancholy euphoria of their debut, “My love is cool”, which included the track named at Grammy “Moaning Lisa Smile”he captured and perfectly accompanied the youth experience of the first steps in music, the next “Vision of A Life” of 2018 He consolidated their ascent with the victory of Mercury Music Prize. Then came the delicate and painful touch of “Blue Weekend” of 2022, who yielded them a Brit Award like Best Group. In the meantime, the singer Ellie Rowsell has become more and more megaphone, telling various ages of the age. The new album will also be presented in Italy: Thursday 13 November 2025 at the Alcatraz in Milan.
