“Without asking permission”, first Spanish book about Ani DiFranco
Libritos Jenkins publishes the first Spanish book on Ani DiFrancoa small format book dedicated to the American artist and signed by the music critic Eduardo Izquierdo.
There’s no doubt that Buffalo singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco is a true free verse artist. He has been this way since he came to the forefront of music in 1990. Since then he has not stopped publishing albums both in the studio and live, becoming a true symbol of self-management – through his label Righteous Babe Records – and musical honesty.
Her folk has reached audiences around the world thanks to lyrics that connect and a unique way of playing the guitar and performing, inspired by the great singer-songwriters who preceded her. To all this we must add a socially and politically committed discourse as an activist against sexism, racism, sexual abuse, poverty, war conflicts, etc.
“Ani DiFranco. Without asking permission”of one hundred and twenty-eight pages, has been written by Eduardo Izquierdo, musician and journalist (Ruta 66, MondoSonoro, Cuadernos Efe Eme), who co-directs and presents the podcast La Hora Chinaski, and the Rocksound collection on 66rpm Edicions.
As for Libritos Jenkins, this title appears in the Micro Bio collection, a growing musical dissemination project, which consists of short biographies of artists, groups or musical phenomena, in the orbit of rock, of which there is little or no bibliography in Spanish.
