The Oasis keyboardist talks about the relationship between Noel and Liam

Will Oasis be the song for the next James Bond film?

Rumor has it that Oasis have been approached to write and perform the theme song for the next James Bond film.

Interviewed during a sports broadcast, Noel Gallagher responded to the question:

«This James Bond thing? What, Oasis? Nah”

However, he added that he would like to be chosen to write the song.

“Certain. It would be an absolute honor, and I think this should be done by the British, not the Yankees.”

And he also added that he would be available for the role of “a Mancunian villain” (from Manchester) in the next film in the Agent 007 series.

A few days ago, his brother Liam wrote on X, again about the theme for James Bond:

“It’s happening, wait until you hear it, it’s the best Bond song ever.”

Noel told New Musical Express in 2008 that he had written a couple of songs that would have been suitable for a 007 film, adding:

“It’s a bit of a joke that the greatest British agent of all time should be accompanied musically by a band of fucking Americans.”

In 2017 Paul Weller revealed that he and Noel had written “half” of a potential Bond theme.

In 2019, Liam also said he was open to recording a Bond theme, claiming he met producer Barbara Broccoli in 2017 for initial talks.

Amazon MGM took creative control of the Bond franchise last year. Dennis Villeneuve (“Dune”) has been confirmed as the director of the next film in the 007 franchise, with the script overseen by “Peaky Blinders” Steven Knight. However, there is no confirmation on the name of the actor who will replace Daniel Craig in the role of the secret agent (there is talk of “a new face” and the name of Callum Turner is rumored).

If the hypothesis materializes, Oasis would enter the prestigious list of performers of a “James Bond theme”, which includes names such as Matt Monro, Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Nancy Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Paul McCartney & Wings, Lulu, Carly Simon, Sheena Easton, Rita Coolidge, Duran Duran, a-ha, Gladys Knight, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, Garbage, Madonna, Chris Cornell, Alicia Keys & Jack White, Adele, Sam Smith and Billie Eilish.

According to bookmakers, however, the most likely names would be those of Lana Del Rey, Sam Fender and Arctic Monkeys.
