Who is Angie, who is viral on TikTok with “Never Said Phrases”
A video that is actually a Canvas, a short continuous loop image that portrays a young girl on the beach, now standing while staring at the sea, now sitting on the sand playing a keyboard. So for just over three minutes, while a voice below her sings: “Stop time / and look at me for another second / you kill me when you dedicate / that song that I adore to her”. The singing voice is precisely that of the girl protagonist of the video clip, Angie. The song is titled “Frasi mai dette” and is one of the Italian songs of the moment, on streaming platforms and on social media.
Angie’s name may sound unknown to you: it is the artistic one of Angelica Paola Ibba, a Sardinian singer-songwriter born in 2001. In 2018, at just 16 years old, she took part in “The Voice of Italy”: she won over the judges by singing “Issues” by Julia Michaels, which was under his wing by J-Ax. She didn’t win: the singer – who in 2010 had already highlighted herself as a child prodigy in “Ti lascio una canzone”, the baby-talent hosted by Antonella Clerici, the same one who launched Il Volo – was eliminated during the fifth episode of talent show. She didn’t give up. And after a handful of singles – from “Scema” to “Giuda” – he now seems to have found his way with this “Frasi mai ditte”, between indie and talent show pop: Steve Tarta’s hand is behind it, real name Stefano Tartaglini producer from Turin already alongside Emanuele Aloia, Alba and Deddy (both seen on “Amici”).
In two weeks the clip of “Frasi mai dette” on YouTube totaled over 30 thousand views, while on TikTok the audio was used in 30 thousand 800 clips, allowing “Frasi mai dette” to become one of the most requested songs on the social network, among the Sanremo hits – from “I p’ me, tu p’ te” by Geolier to “Pazza” by Loredana Berté, passing through “La noia” by Angelina Mango and “Sincerely” by Annalisa – in the ranking Hot 50. On Spotify the single was included in some trending playlists and began to rack up streams. Are we just at the beginning?
