UK: vinyl in the basket to calculate the cost of living

What will be the Christmas song in Great Britain?

In Great Britain the race has started (very heartfelt and also prestigious in those latitudes) to crown the song of Christmas 2024, i.e. the song that will be first in the singles chart the week of Christmas.

Last year to win the prestigious achievement were Wham! Which, strange to say, reached number one position in the rankings with the classic for the first time in their history “Last Christmas” almost 40 years after its publication.

As we said, this ‘race’ across the Channel is very popular, and therefore rumors have already started to circulate about who could reach the finish line of first place. NME magazine lists her as one of the favourites
Sabrina Carpenter
with the single
“Is It New
Years Yet?”
but other pop stars such as Gracie Abrams and Chappell Roan are in the running with, respectively,
“That’s So True”
And
“HOT
TO GO!”
. This all-female field will have to be careful
Richard Ashcroft
and its acoustic version of
“Sonnet”
used for the Christmas advertising of the John Lewis department store, but there is also talk of
Ed Sheeran
with
“Under The Tree”
and two other members of the fairer sex,
Perrie
And
Kelly Clarkson
with
“Christmas Magic”
And
“You For Christmas”
without forgetting that there can always be surprises.

Chapter aside, but they can’t be left outside the door, they are the Christmas classics which
“Stay Another Day”
of the
East 17
,
“All I Want For Christmas Is You”
Of
Mariah Carey
and, of course, the
Wham!
reigning champions with
“Last Christmas”
which could also happen again.
