Vinicio Capossela: “Sciusten Feste N.1965”. A record for the party

It’s called “Sciusten Feste N.1965” the new album of Vinicio Capossela out Friday 25 October for Warner Music Italy. Produced for La Cupa by Vinicio Capossela and Alessandro “Asso” Stefana, recorded between 2020 and 2021 together with the singer-songwriter’s historic band, the album contains fifteen songs between unpublished, rewritings, revisitations and reinterpretations of holiday standards, with the participation of some special guests such as Marc Ribot, Greg Cohen, Mikey Kenney and Vincenzo Vasi.

The author defines “Sciusten Feste N.1965”, not exactly a Christmas album. A record for the party. For its euphorias and for its melancholies.

This is how Vinicio Capossela describes the new album:

They are songs that give space to the soul of the party, to the turmoil, to the hugs, to the tears, to the redemptions, to the revolutions, to the rebellions, to the overflows and the trips of the season in which the time of utility is suspended. The time of mourning, the time of death and anger, to recover under the tent of Achilles, while outside the battle rages, that sense of community, of play and celebration, which is one of the most fruitful expressions of humanity there are rewritings, revisitations and reinterpretations of Christmas standards, unreleased songs, amusement parks, bone dances, gusts of sparkling wine and Italian-American swing, Tanzlieder from pan-Germanic humanity, hymns, parties and party poopers, without neglecting Herod, because we must not forget evil even when it is hidden by the reassuring days of the nativity scene. And it all ends in confetti, like the ones that make up the title writing around the neck of the circus dog on the cover, who is struggling to keep his balance.
Sciusten Feste ins neun sechs funf, danke viele Spass!

The album has a long history that dates back to 1999, the year in which Capossela played his first “holiday concert” at Fuori Orario, a historic venue overlooking the railway tracks in Taneto di Gattatico (RE). Since then, he has continued to give life to overflowing concerts, which glorified the festival and made it happen. Concerts that created a community and a tradition.

The story in its uniqueness is also celebrated in the documentary film Christmas After Hours”, built on the shots taken by Gianfranco Firriolo during the holiday concerts from 2008 to 2023 and which will be presented at the Rome Film Festival Thursday 17 October at the Teatro Olimpico.

The day after the album’s release, the tour starts, firmly linked to the album episode, entitled “Dressed up for the holidays” with which the singer-songwriter will present his new work in Italian and European clubs (Read here).
