Vasco: how he chooses the songs that open and close the concerts
Towards “Vasco live 2026”, the new tour, which will start on May 30th with date zero in Rimini, Vasco Rossi plays with the anticipation and expectations of fans regarding the setlist – still top secret – of the concerts, explaining how he actually chooses the songs that open and close his shows. The “instruction manual”, if we want to call it that, was released by the Zocca rocker himself on Instagram, where he is always very active, through a long post. «Every year with a new setlist, with some fixed songs and others that alternate. If you wait, if you are patient, keeping about ten fixed, I will do them all… Optimism is essential. Just believe it”, began the Komandante, who has said several times that he wanted to die on stage.
Last year “Vita spericolata” was the song chosen to open the concerts: the interruption of a ritual, after years and years. Yes, because historically the 1983 hit arrived in the final part of the show, inserted between “Sono solo noi” and “Albachiara”, with which it composed a deadly trio. Tris who should return to compose this year, giving up the task of opening the 2026 concerts to another song. Which one? Who knows. In recent weeks Vasco limited himself to saying that the last song in the setlist “will be perfect for the times we are in”, but he didn’t talk about the first.
«When I talk about the first and last song I mean the one with which the show begins, after the intro that has opened the dance for years, and the one with which it closes before the encores, so to speak. Having chosen these two songs here, often following an intuition linked to how I feel in a certain period, or better yet, what I perceive is happening around, in the world, all that remains is to decide all the others”, continues the post. And again: «When they ask me which songs I will perform on a particular tour, hoping that it will end up spoiling everything, I answer that there will be the first song, then the second, the third and followed by all the others. But in reality it is a truly complex job, which is based on a certain scientific nature, but also on intuition, on the head and skin.”
In 2023 the underlying theme of the concerts was centered on the relationship between Vasco and the female universe and for the occasion the rocker opened the shows with “Dillo alla luna”, a powerful metaphor of the feminine. The following year, in 2024, the concept shifted to the social: a look at what happens around us, on discrimination, on the most uncomfortable topics. Not surprisingly, the shows began with “‘Blasco’ Rossi” and “Asilo Republic”. For the 2025 tour, however, the concept had its roots in the concept of life, hence the choice to open with “Vita spericolata”. What about 2026? All you have to do is wait about two months.
