U2 release new song “Happiness”

After “Country Mile” and “Picture Of You (X + W)”, U2 release today – October 24th – another unreleased song taken from the sessions for 2004’s “How to dismantle an atomic bomb”, the album originally given to released by Bono and associates in 2004. The song in question is entitled “Happiness” and like the previous ones it will be included in the collection of ten songs, together with remixes and live recordings exhumed from the archive of the sessions of the original album, entitled “How to re-assemble an atomic bomb”.

As already announced, the collection will be released on November 22nd together with a remastered version for the twentieth anniversary of “How to dismantle an atomic bomb”. The bonus track “Fast cars” will also be part of the re-release of the album.

Regarding “How to re-assemble an atomic bomb”, The Edge explained in a statement:

“The recording sessions occurred during a very creative time for the band, we were exploring so many song ideas in the studio. We were inspired to revisit our early musical influences, and it was a moment of deep personal introspection for Bono as he was attempting to process – ‘dismantle’ – the death of his father. To create this celebratory edition of the album I went into my personal archive to find unreleased gems, and I hit the mark. We have chosen ten of them. Although they were left aside at the time, in hindsight we recognize that our initial instincts about whether they could be part of the album were far-sighted, we were on the right track.”
