Two Rolling Stones cover that Phil Collins believes terrible
In his solo career Phil Collins has recorded several covers, especially of Soul songs related to the Motown label. Speaking of covers the ex Genesis despite being a discreet fan of Rolling Stones Once he said that two of the covers they recorded were terrible.
The first cover of Rolling Stones who did not like Collins was “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”part of their 1974 album “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll” of which in 2010 he said: “They are quite horrible (the versions of the songs). But they didn’t want to recreate them. It is the Rolling Stones who do those songs.”
“Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” was written by Norman Whitfield and Eddie Holland and, originally, recorded by Tempting and published in their 1966 album “Gettin ‘Ready”. The single reached 13th place in the American ranking. The Stones did not achieve the same success reaching 89th place.
In 2010 Collins reinterpreted the song in his latest studio album
“Going Back”
