Tracy Chapman: 37 years of the debut album, which returns to vinyl
The eponymous album of Tracy Chapman will be reprinted on April 4th on vinyl to celebrate the 35th release anniversary. Originally published by Elektra Records in April 1988, ‘Tracy Chapman’ has no longer been available on vinyl for some time.
As stated in a press release, the re -edition for the anniversary was prepared for the publication by Chapman and the original manufacturer of the album, David Kershenbaum, printed on 180 grams vinyl and coming from an analog master. The album package will also include an insert of translated texts, which have accompanied the original international output.
With the classics “Fast Car”, “Talkin ‘Bout a Revolution” and “Baby Can I Hold You”, the album won three Grammy Awards and became one of the most successful debuts of all time, reaching the first place In several countries and selling more than 20 million copies worldwide.
Speaking of the reissue for the anniversary, in a press release Tracy Chapman comments:
“I had just left the college when the album was released and for a young singer -songwriter it was a dream that became reality: making a record, record my songs, release my first album. 1988, that year, marked the beginning of what was an experience that made me humble and electrified, seeing fans from all over the world embrace these 11 songs. I really wanted to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the album, and therefore I am grateful to have the opportunity to reprint the album on vinyl “.
