Tom Waits manages to throw us all off with the premiere “The Fly”
After having pleasantly surprised with his collaboration with Massive Attack, published at the beginning of the year and being his first original music since the album “Bad As Me” (2011). Now Tom Waits has left us completely confused by publishing, as the B side of that first single, a ‘spoken word’ song dedicated to a house fly. Quite a satirical ode that includes a grudging admiration for the brief life of this little-celebrated insect.
Both tracks will be available on 12″ vinyl on September 4, in a 180g eco-friendly edition in three colors (red, white and blue, randomly distributed), the proceeds of which will be donated to civil rights and community advocacy organizations.
If “Boots On The Ground” was accompanied by a video clip created by Massive Attack together with the American photographer thefinaleye, this time “The Fly” is accompanied by a lyric video illustrated by his son Casey Waits.
