There's a new album from Sxrrxwland, after five years
Perhaps they simply needed to each take their own space, do something else with respect to the project carried out between 2017 and 2019, and then return to join forces and regroup as a group, following the three moments of the Hegelian dialectic. Sxrrxwland stated their thesis between 2017 and 2019 with two works such as the debut with “Good manners for young predators” and “Osso”: a mix of avant pop, post-emo and trap which allowed the trio to make their way among the followers of the Italian new wave. The antithesis Osore (real name Jack Camilleri), Tremila (Gino Venezi) and Vipra (Giovanni Cerrati) – respectively producer, arts director and voice of the project – explored it by taking a break after the release of “Osso”: the first two gave life to the Riel project in 2022, while Vipra signed pieces later recorded by pop stars like Fedez, Annalisa, Marco Mengoni,
before inaugurating his solo project. Now for Sxrrxwland it's time for synthesis: the collective reunites for the release of a new album, the first in five years. Is titled “Machine soul”, will arrive May 31st and it is the third chapter of the trilogy inaugurated with “Good manners for young predators”.
As always, when it comes to Sxrrxland, the concept on paper promises to be bizarre and extravagant. Between chiptune, drum'n'bass and post punk the trio aims to bring its music to a higher level than the first two chapters of the trilogy (the two EPs, enriched by the unreleased “Crush/ Adderall” were published in a single edition which sold over a thousand copies in 2021 less than 72 hours and is – to date – a almost impossible to find cult objectas well as the band's official merchandise): “If the present takes us further and further away from what we have been, transforming our identities into data and our actions into mechanical interactions, it is worth asking ourselves whether machine-men do not they will already be obsolete models compared to the newly developed technologies – Osore, Tremila and Vipra anticipate regarding the project, with the usual emphasis that characterizes their communication – 'Machine soul' is the backup file of a software perhaps destined to disappear, but whose memory is important to preserve: that of our emotions”.
In April 2024 the group announced its return to the scene for a live show at Mi Ami, leaving the public with the hope that it wasn't the only news, and it was. If the first two EPs represented flesh and bones, “Anima machine” is the breath that gives life to the creature of Osore, Vipra and Tremila: a being halfway between the human, the divinity and the android, the result of the different and complementary influences that animate the three artists of the collective.
