“The songs become of those who listen to them”

I am very satisfied with how my participation in the Sanremo Festival went. I started with a very serene approach, without any need to demonstrate anything to anyone. I introduced myself with a song that I consider a classic, a piece that does not fit into the fashions or hype of the moment. I think he has his own value today, but that he could have had it also twenty years ago and I hope he will continue to have a meaning even in twenty years. It is a timeless song, far from special effects, which speaks directly and sincerely.

That of the Festival was a week with a frenetic and enthusiastic rhythm that translated into a great emotion, joy and sharing. I am mainly happy because I hear that “Long live life “ It is highly appreciated by my audience, and this is the real prize for me. I can say that it is a positive balance and I can only be grateful to it.

“Long live life” is part of my new album “on your side”a title that represents a sort of dedication for those who will listen to him and do it his own. The songs are yours when you write them, but then they become of those who listen to them. I write in a way that leaves a lot of freedom of personal interpretation, therefore of subjective reading by the listener, for this reason I thought it was the perfect title.

This record is a collection of songs written in the last two years and I think it represents my natural growth process. Each song is an expression of me, of the directions I look at. Growing up, not to say aging, I feel more and more the need to seek serenity and an inner balance. I believe that the balance is not reached by canceling the parts of me, but accepting them and making them harmonize together and I believe that this aspect emerges almost unconsciously on the disc. I also think there is a mix between the most introspective and the most ironic part, which both do part of my person.

Now the record has come out and will take its way. Soon I will leave for the new tour in the buildings and I can’t wait to present them live and find out how the new songs will be perceived.
