The Sala Napule’s Power is born
The Sala Napule’s Power is born, the headquarters of the musical movement which Renato Marengo gave life to in 1970 by bringing together the major protagonists of a real cultural revolution in Naples by young artists from blues, jazz, rock and popular music. Many of these musicians, now famous, were produced by Renato Marengo himself, artistic director of the Sala Napule’s Power which, hosted in Naples in via Aniello Falcone 52 by the Studi di Suono Libero Music of Nando Misuraca, responsible for the communication of the movement, will be a meeting point for artists and cultural operators and will give space to presentations of records, books, videos, meetings, musical programs and short performances. Sala Napule’s Power will also host a permanent photographic exhibition by Toni Occhiello, author of photos, covers and images of the protagonists of this great Mediterranean music – his is the photo by Pino Daniele which illustrates this article – but there will also be space for photos, paintings and videos by many other authors.
Renato Marengo 50 years ago managed to bring out of Naples, thanks to magazines such as Ciao 2001, the “bible of Rock” of those years, thanks to his and Raffaele Cascone’s pioneering musical programs on the radio, and thanks to the involvement of the most important Italian record companies, a nucleus of talents motivated both musically and socially by the desire for change in Naples. Among these: The Showmen, NCCP, Roberto De Simone, Edoardo Bennato, Osanna, Tony Esposito, Napoli Centrale by James Senese, Enzo Avitabile, Pino Daniele, Tullio De Piscopo, Teresa De Sio, Alan Sorrenti, Musicanova by Eugenio Bennato, Enzo Gragnaniello, Ciccio Merolla, Jenny Sorrenti and Saint Just, Patrizia Lopez, Il Balletto di Bronzo, Antonio Onorato, Pietra Montecorvino, Antonio Infantino, Concetta Barra, Tony Cercola, Armando Piazza, Lina Sastri, Luciano Cilio, Vox Populi, Giorgio Zito, Popularia and many others.
