The release date of the Led Zeppelin film is official
The movie of Led Zeppelin ‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’as reported by Ultimate Classic Rock, will be released exclusively in theaters on February 7th. Presented as a “docu-concert”, ‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’ explores the group’s origins and meteoric growth in their first year. It is the first film to be officially endorsed by the band and features never-before-seen footage, performances and footage.
“We spent five years flying back and forth across the Atlantic, scouring attics and basements for rare and unreleased footage, photographs and music recordings,” said the writer/producer
Allison McGourty
in a press release announcing the film. “Then we transferred each piece of media with custom techniques, so that in IMAX, these 55-year-old clips and music would look and sound as if they came out of the lab the day before.”
Earlier this year, the guitarist and producer of
Led Zeppelin Jimmy Page
revealed that the film proposals they had received in the past were “pretty paltry”, explaining: “They wanted to focus on anything but music and as a result I immediately recoiled from that sort of thing.” But he’s quite happy with how ‘Becoming Led Zeppelin’ turned out: “It’s all about the music and what makes it work. There are full versions of songs, not just a little piece. This is a thing of a completely different genre.”
