The Jethro Tull widens the “Living in the Past” compilation
THE Jethro Tull they will publish an enlarged version of the compilation “Living in the past”From 1972. The imminent box with six CDs, entitled”Still Living in the past“, Includes Remix, Demo and live songs and will be published on July 11th.
As with other recent reptpetti of the Jethro Tull, Steven Wilson remixed the original album and the recordings of unpublished concerts.
In addition to the five music CDs, the box includes a Blu-ray disc with audio and four promotional clips from 1970 and 1971.
So said the leader of the Tull Ian Anderson in the press release of the new work launching.
After 53 years from the original exit, this collection with Steven Wilson’s remixes and surrephic sound updates is a splendid addition to the Tull’s album series. At the time he was mainly designed to update the history of tulls for the American and European public who had not been able to benefit from the many songs that had already reached the ears of British fans. I remember the recordings of many of these songs with surprising clarity and some can still play them in memory without a moment of hesitation. In some cases it is extravagant and covers a range of musical styles, and shows my attempts to expand the writing and arrangement and to go beyond the most rock and blues origins of the group. The songs with mandolin and acoustic guitar are among my favorites.
At the time of his publication, in 1972, “Living in the Past” was conceived as an introduction to the band for the new fans who had discovered them after “Thick as a Brick”, their fifth album, had reached n. 1 at the beginning of the year.
“Living in the Past” reached n. 3 in the United States; The original LP included Outtakes, songs from the album and individuals dating back to 1968. The new version contains remixed versions of these songs and alternative records of songs by Jethro Tull at the time.
“Still Living in the Past” also contains a concert at the Carnegie Hall of 4 November 1970, never published. “I am very happy that this material is available again,” Anderson said.
