The Interbellum Trio recapture the 1920s and 1930s in “Match Swing!”
“Match Swing!” is the soundtrack of the show of the same name that immerses us in the origins of jazz with three experienced and seasoned musicians in the world of electronics, pop, jazz and even trip hop.
The album will be published on November 6, and the show will be officially presented for the first time on the 14th at the Sarrià Theater (Barcelona). Both the music and the show recover old sounds from the 1920s and 1930s.
The story begins on November 12, 1918, one day after the end of the First World War, when three soldiers from opposing sides meet in a tavern in northern Italy and discover jazz together. Under the name The Interbellum Trio, Fritz (German, banjolele and voice), Servus (Austrian, violin and voice) and tommy (English, cello and voice) travel to London, Berlin, New York and Barcelona, coinciding with figures such as Bertolt Brecht, Ernest Hemingway either Duke Ellington. The show recovers songs from the interwar period combined with jazz standards.
The Interbellum Trio is made up of Save King (Dr.Love, Los Negativos, The Pinker Tones), Christoph Mallinger (jazz violinist and guitarist, collaborator of Andrea Motis or CHano Dominguez) and Jon Cottle (cellist, collaborator of Goldie, Massive Attack or John Cale).
