The Go-Go’s Jane Wiedlin releases autobiography
Jane Wiedlinrhythm guitarist, backing vocalist, co-founder and author of Go-Go’swrote his autobiography. The book, entitled ‘TMI: Memoirs of a Go-Go’s’ will be published on November 10th.
As he stated Jane Wiedlin: “If you’ve ever wondered what the life of a weird girl is like, look no further. The Go-Go’s have a blast, they have lots of stories to tell and even a few tears. This book goes above and beyond, because, frankly, there’s so much more to know about me. I’ve had an incredible life so far!”
The publisher’s release states: “The Go-Go’s were the first all-female rock group to write their own songs, play their own instruments and reach No. 1 on the Billboard charts. The 1981 album, “Beauty and the Beat,” was recorded by the lineup of Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Kathy Valentine, Charlotte Caffey and Jane Wiedlin. As guitarist and lyricist, Wiedlin helped define that revolution. In her autobiography, shares the raw and unfiltered journey of an artist who overcame every obstacle.”
Coming from the early Los Angeles punk scene, “Our Lips Are Sealed”written in collaboration with Jane Wiedlincatapulted the band to success. The Go-Go’s they reached dizzying heights, only to dissolve into a whirlwind of touring, tension and chaos that was unparalleled among bands of the time. Yet his story goes far beyond the stage.

he opens up about childhood tragedies, mental health problems, relationships that ended badly and his incessant ability to reinvent himself. She tells how she taught herself to play, how she worked as a “slave” in a famous BDSM club (acronym for Bondage/Discipline, Domination/Submission, Sadism/Masochism, ed.) and how she became the first atheist minister in the world.
As a solo artist, Wiedlin released half a dozen albums and was the driving force behind the punk band
froSTed
. She has also worked as an actress, in films and television series. He currently lives in the Bay Area, where he divides his time between music, painting, writing and dog rescue.
