“The first summer”: the festival (almost) on the beach in Versilia

The third edition of the festival will take place, with the same formula as last year, over two long weekends (Friday/Sunday).The first summer”. The appointment is therefore from 14 to 16 and from 21 to 23 June in Lido di Camaiore (Lucca), for six days of music, with nineteen artists, in a park a stone's throw from the Tyrrhenian Sea on the Versilia coast.

Started three years ago, this Tuscan festival is growing in terms of fame (for artists and audiences), personality and artistic homogeneity with a different stylistic proposal every evening. To support what the organizers define as “faster growth than expected” are the numbers from the last edition: 50,000 attendees over the two weekends plus the surprise “reopening” of the event due to the sudden arrival of Lana Del Rey (Read here).

As with every festival, there is something for all tastes: from alternative rock to electronica with high-level international guests and some of the most interesting proposals on the national scene. Every evening four performances which will take place between 4.30pm and midnight on the main stage which this year is no longer the only stage present at the Bussoladomani Park where “La prima estate” takes place (whose name has astronomical reasons but is also a tribute to Kings Of Convenience). This year there is also a second stage on which some new proposals of Italian music will be performed during the stage changes.

In addition to the concerts, several other initiatives gravitate around the festival, starting, for the early risers, from yoga on the beach at 8 in the morning and followed by wellness, food and wine initiatives, cycle tourism, meetings and other events while waiting for the concerts to start (which is possible wait even simply spending time on the beach, in the typical seaside life).

The calendar offers concerts ranging from alternative rock to techno with a souvenir/homage evening entirely dedicated to Kama Kamaa pioneering and historic Versilian venue that pushed this musical genre into Italy before its great success.

As for the line up, the organizers complained about the difficulties in choosing the artists. “This year the choice of guests was difficult because there was a limited proposal. Fewer artists on tour and everyone is already very busy. We had to respect the wishes and calendars of those we wanted to invite. For example, we courted for a long time PJ Harvey and also St. Vincent, but we couldn't get a female headliner.” But they will continue to try, said the organizers who have signed an agreement with the municipality of Lido to continue for the next three years. “With these difficulties we are very proud of the line up we managed to build”

These are the expected headliners: Jane's Addiction (June 14), Phoenix (June 16), Peggy Gou (21 June), Paolo Nutini (22 June), Fontaines DC (June 23).
