The final of the Lelio Luttazzi Award at the CPM in Milan
The final of the Lelio Luttazzi Prize returns to Milan: on Friday 31 October, the auditorium of the CPM Music Institute hosts the final of the sixth edition of the national competition dedicated to young jazz pianist authors aged 16 to 30. An event that pays homage to the great musician and showman from Trieste.
The finalists of the sixth edition of the competition organized by the Lelio Luttazzi Foundation will compete by presenting their own original composition and performing one of his pieces.
Each finalist will present an original composition to the public and, to pay homage to the Maestro, will perform a piece from Lelio Luttazzi’s repertoire. The winner will receive a scholarship of 1,000 euros, while the original song will be recorded by the Foundation and distributed on digital platforms by Sergio Cossu’s Blue Serge label.
The final will be introduced by the Jazz Company, a sextet directed by Gabriele Comeglio (artistic director of the Prize), with the voice of Caterina Comeglio.
The orchestrations of some of Luttazzi’s pieces were handled by the students of the CPM arranging course, held by Maestro Comeglio.
After the competitors’ performances, the jury composed of Mario Rusca (president, doyen of Italian jazz), Claudio Angeleri (pianist and composer) and Luca Nobis (educational director of the CPM) will decide the winner.
The evening will end with the awards ceremony and a collective jam session to the tune of “Drums Blues” by Luttazzi.
The event, organized by the Lelio Luttazzi Foundation under the high patronage of the European Parliament and with the patronage of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Ministry of Culture, SIAE, AGIS, Municipality of Milan, Municipality of Rome (Department of Cultural Growth), Municipality of Trieste and NuovoImaie, will take place in the auditorium of the CPM (Centro Professione Musica, via Reguzzoni 15, Milan).
