The Doors play “Riders on the storm” for charity
The two members of the Doors still alive, the guitarist Robby Krieger and the drummer John Densmorehave recreated the band’s 1971 classic “Riders on the Storm” with a host of musicians from all over the world.
There are many artists who contributed to the creation of the song Lukas Nelson, Micah Nelson, Don Was, Rami Jaffee of the Foo Fighters, Sierra Ferrell And Aaron White. The recording was made in collaboration with the annual project “Songs Around the World” from the Playing for Change Foundation and is accompanied by a music video directed by the founder of Playing for Change, Mark Johnson.
The 81-year-old Densmore commented: “Vocally, Lukas Nelson filled Jim Morrison’s leather pants beautifully! Ray (Manzarek, the Doors keyboardist who passed away in 2013, ed.) would be proud of the way Rami Jaffee ‘channeled’ the piano solo. Mark Johnson created a wonderful video.”
Robby Krieger he added, “Seeing musicians from different cultures come together in this song means a lot. Playing For Change is doing important work to unite people around the world.”
In addition to the artists mentioned above, the recording features the participation of international musicians who play various instruments, including the didgeridoo and the bandoneón.
