“The cinema of Lelio Luttazzi” at the Rome Film Festival

The Lelio Luttazzi Foundation, in collaboration with the Rome Film Festival, as part of the “Risonanze” program, pays homage to the Maestro on the occasion of the celebrations of the centenary of his birth, with two days of initiatives that will be held at the Casa del Cinema in Rome , on 28 and 29 October.
The “Il cinema di Lelio Luttazzi” initiative was born with the aim of continuing with the activities and objectives implemented in 2023 for the celebrations of the centenary of the Maestro, proposing a review composed of two events, focused on the memory and dissemination of the the Maestro’s commitment to cinema.

The meetings, introduced by historians, critics and experts in music and cinema, will take place in the setting of the Casa del Cinema in Rome and will focus on the analysis and memory of the Maestro’s activity as a composer, actor and director.

On Monday 28 October, on the occasion of the first evening, from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm the public will be able to attend the screening of a montage of clips from the films starring the Maestro in the Cinecittà Room, accompanied, as in the silent cinema period, by a piano present in room. Following this, “L’illazione” (1972) will be screened, a film that remained unreleased until 2011, the year of its presentation at the Rome International Film Festival, written, acted and directed by Luttazzi.
Participants, among others: Nicolò Bressan Degli Antoni (director), Dario Salvatori (music critic), Judge Santino Mirabella (author of the book “L’Illazione” dedicated to the maestro Lelio Luttazzi), Cesare Bastelli (director of photography and vice president from the
Lelio Luttazzi Foundation).

On Tuesday 29 October from 7.00 pm there will be a screening of the short film “Studies for a Close Up” (2024) by Nicolò Bressan Degli Antoni, with music by Lelio Luttazzi. Following, a talk on the Maestro’s cinema will introduce “L’ombrane” (1965) by Dino Risi, a film set to music and starring, among others, Maestro Luttazzi.
Participants will include, among others: Guido Lombardo (President of Titanus), Giorgio Verdelli
(director), Umberto Broccoli (television author, radio and television presenter, essayist), Nicolò Bressan Degli Antoni (director).
