The Baustelle have organized a festival of their own

There will be, they say, “new, emerging artists and bands, kids with whom we feel an affinity and in whom we see the spirit that animated our days during the ‘Illustrated Subsidiary of Youth’ era”. And then “live talks and podcasts, vinyl records played from afternoon to sunset”. And of course they will be there too, the Baustelle Who have decided to celebrate the first quarter of a century that has passed since the release of their debut album “Sussidiario illustrata della youth” with a “Tuscan Woodstock”, a festival of their own.

Francesco Bianconi, Rachele Bastreghi and Claudio Brasini named it El Galactico Festival, “like a potential Mexican taco bar in Los Angeles or like a real one in East Milan”, and described it as “an immersive experience in the heart of Tuscany”, where it all began, even before the release of “Illustrated Subsidiary of Youth”, when Bianconi and Brasini – already members of the Subterraneans – met Bastreghi in Montepulciano and began one of the most passionate about the Italian indie rock of that unrepeatable period.

It will take place on 1 and 2 June in Florence on the stage of the Anfiteatro Delle Vascine and with Baustelle there will be Emma Nolde, Neoprimitivi, Matteo Bordone and Daniela Collu with a live podcast, Pierpaolo De Sanctis (Four Flies Records DJ Set) , Marta Del Grandi, the Delicatoni, Stefano Nazzi with an episode of his “Indagini live” and Bassolino for the DJ set.

“The schedule was designed to breathe the essence of the group”, they say, who announced the festival with a video that recalls “Ecce Bombo” and “Io sono un autarchico” by Nanni Moretti. Tickets will be available from tomorrow, Wednesday 18 December at 2pm, and in all authorized sales points from Monday 23 December. “Although revival and nostalgia horrify us, we have realized that twenty-five years have passed since the beginning of our recording existence,” said the trio, who announced a 2025 “full of novelties”.

Who knows, in addition to a reprint of “Illustrated Subsidiary of Youth”, there may also be a new album of unreleased songs, after “Elvis” in 2023.
