The Annalynn singer lied, he doesn’t have cancer

The Thai metalcore group Annalynn suspended all activities after the singer Nathaphon “Bon” Jutathaveewan he admitted to having faked a cancer diagnosis to pay off debts, setting up a real scam.

It was announced in July that Jutathaveewan had been diagnosed with stomach cancer, resulting in financial donations, increased show bookings and merchandise collections. Both the band and its record label have urged fans to make donations to help with medical expenses, as the singer “comes from a third world country.” The collection of money had taken place via the GoFundMe platform, obviously completely unrelated to the issue.

Now Jutathaveewan has confessed, admitting in a statement that he faked the illness to obtain money to pay off personal debts and loans, adding that no one else, including his bandmates and label, was involved in the deception.

Annalynn members also released a collective statement to explain their side of the story.

This is Jutathaveewan’s statement reported by the Lambgoat website:

I would like to offer my sincere apologies to everyone for everything that has happened, especially for the deception about my health issues and the false claims that have been made. I deeply regret my actions and take full responsibility for the mistakes I have made. I am truly sorry for the harm and distress I have caused.
The problems I have faced stem from personal financial difficulties, including debt from illegal loans and poor business decisions that I have failed to manage over the years. The situation escalated to the point where I couldn’t see a way out and I was put under immense pressure, both financial and personal, which led to the mistakes I made. Unfortunately I have betrayed the trust and kindness that many of you have shown me. My poor decisions have impacted not only my life, but also the lives of those around me, and I deeply regret them.
I WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT NO ONE ELSE, WHETHER MY MUSIC LABEL, FRIENDS, MY FAMILY OR MY BANDMATES, HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN THESE PROBLEMS.
I am now facing the consequences of my choices and have learned valuable lessons from this experience. I promise to do everything in my power to make things right and resolve the situation as quickly as possible. I realize that my words cannot erase the damage that has been done, but I want to humbly ask for your forgiveness. I am truly sorry for the pain and inconvenience my actions have caused and I deeply regret the trust I have broken.

Annalynn, via Instagram, also released a statement explaining that the other band members asked Jutathaveewan to provide official proof of his diagnosis after “first suspicions about Bon’s illness arose”, prompting the band to reunite to talk about it.

The statement adds: “Effective immediately, Annalynn will suspend all activities, including performances, merchandise sales and any use of the band name in any capacity,” and continues: “We, as the remaining members of Annalynn, regret deeply for the pain and anguish caused by Bon’s actions.”

Surely, as can be understood from the title of the post, Jutathaveewan is no longer part of the band but even the closure of the same statement implies that the history of the group could be over forever. “The four of us are deeply saddened and disappointed by Bon’s actions,” it read. “We sincerely thank everyone who has supported Annalynn over the years.”
