The Andrea Parodi Museum takes up residence in Osidda
The new headquarters of the Andrea Parodi Museum finds its home in Osidda (province of Nuoro) where the multimedia space was inaugurated on 29 December at the Casa Comunale in via Angioy: four rooms in which – through over tens of hours of images – Andrea Parodi he tells and his closest friends and colleagues remember him.
A journey through the artistic and human message of Andrea Parodi which is at the same time an extraordinary love poem for Sardinia, to whose musical culture Parodi dedicated his entire life. After the years at the Palazzo di Città in Cagliari, at the Youth Hostel of Cagliari, at the “Casa Fenudi” in Ottana, at the Ethnographic Museum of “Sa Domo Manna” in Villanova Monteleone, at the Palace of the Marquis of Porto Torres, the Andrea Museum Parodi arrives in the center of the much loved land, where Andrea had decided to get married. “We responded to the affectionate request of the Municipality of Osidda that Andrea loved so much, with whom we signed an agreement for five years in the meantime” explains Valentina Casalena, President of the Foundation, as well as Parodi’s wife.
The museum is a project of the Andrea Parodi Foundation and is being set up again thanks to the contribution of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the Sardinia Foundation and the Municipality of Osidda.
The traveling version set up on a mobile vehicle will remain active, ready to be hosted in the Municipalities that request it.
The Museum
The Museum is the result of the initial work of the multimedia director Francesco Casu, the architect Olindo Merone, the original illustrations and graphics are by Sean Scaccia and the subsequent work of Valentina Casalena and Luca Parodi, protagonists of this current installation.
The Museum allows the visitor to consult the artist’s documents and receive the information necessary for a better understanding of the exhibition. The museum brochure and headphones, provided at the reception, are the access keys to the entire exhibition which unfolds from that point onwards along four rooms.
Room 1: Discographies
It is the room entirely dedicated to music, within which it is possible to enjoy Andrea Parodi’s entire discography, including collaborations, unreleased songs and curiosities.
Room 2: Places and memories
A graphic grid in which each box represents a stage in Andrea Parodi’s life. Sound-musical evocation and direct testimony of the places and memories of a life: the perimeter is marked by the alternation of a real and virtual perceptive modality. Images and artistic illustrations are displayed and backlit in a rigorous scan that is reflected in the flow of sounds and testimonies inside the monitors.
Room 3: The sea and the surrounding lands
An intimate journey told in first person by Andrea Parodi through sounds and images: three screens project, in perfect synchronism, a sort of evocative album. It is a graphic space that starts from the depths of the artist and is immersed in a continuum of chromatic variations of ultramarine blue that evoke the continuous journey and a concept of life, in which the borders of the sea are the lands that meet and enrich of sounds and images the life of the artist.
Room 4: Ventanas
A space that opens up to the continuation of the artistic journey just visited, through the Andrea Parodi Foundation and its activities. Everything is mapped in a curved corridor (in the photograph of this article) through graphics that allude to a typical Sardinian loom, in which the nodes are replaced by pixels, to indicate the importance of modernizing a path that draws on tradition. A touchscreen system allows the use of the audio-video material that constitutes the archive of the Andrea Parodi Foundation.
