Tenco 2024, we continue with the second day and the Tenco Awards
The 2024 edition of the Tenco Prize came into full swing yesterday evening, 17 September, with the first appointment at the Ariston Theater dedicated to License plateswhich saw the artists awarded for “The best records of the year” by Canzone d’Autore published between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024, and some guests.
Diodato (Targa Tenco), Paolo Benvegnù (Targa Tenco), Tullio De Piscopo, Simona Molinari (Targa Tenco), Elisa Ridolfi (Targa Tenco), Setak (Targa Tenco), Alberto Zeppieri (Targa Tenco), as well as guests Gianni Coscia, Fabrizio Mocata and Michele Staino, Francesco Tricarico, were therefore the protagonists of the first culminating evening of the event dedicated to Songwriting, which this year celebrates.the important milestone of 50 years. Today we continue, and as usual the day begins with the press conference conducted by Steven Forti and Antonio Silva.
This afternoon includes, at the Ariston Theatre, the screening of the film on Sergio Staino “Satire and Dreams” by David Riondino. TO Staino (journalist, cartoonist and director who was President of Club Tenco until his death in 2023), a special issue of the “Songwriter” is also dedicated, entitled “Il Cantastaino – Friend, the meeting is the life of art” with a record, in addition to the “Bobo song” concert, scheduled from 6pm at theFormer Santa Brigida churchby Gianni Coscia, Fabrizio Mocata and Michele Staino.
The meeting with journalists on the second day of the review opens with the speech of Tricaricoprotagonist of yesterday’s evening, with a short but incisive musical monologue on the condition of songwriting, and guest again tonight. Then it’s the turn of Mimmo Locasciulliamong the artists who this year receive the Tenco Prize, awarded to the career of those who have made a significant contribution to Songwriting. “In 2019 I came here with an amazing band, with whom I remember having done a super concert”, says Locasciulli, before presenting what to expect from his participation this evening at the Ariston Theatre: “This year I am approaching a different humanity I will play accompanied by the quartet who play the instruments created from the wood of the migrants’ boats and made by the people detained in the Opera prison in Milan”. The Orchestra of the Seawhich debuted last February at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, participated in the making of the album “
Where the gaze gets lost” by Mimmo Locasciulli, who adds: “This evening I am really happy to be able to present this project which will then also have a theatrical sequel”.
The Tenco Prize is also awarded to an international artist, Teresa Parodian iconic figure of Argentine culture, an activist, a politician, a poet and one of the most representative singer-songwriters. On the sidelines of the conference, in addition to recalling her experience as the first female Minister of Culture of the Argentine Republic and as an activist, Teresa Parodi reviewed his meeting with Toscawho wanted her at Tenco: “The first time I sang in Italy was thanks to Tosca.
I had played a lot in Europe, but never in Italy. Tosca continues: “For me, bringing Teresa to Italy was and is very important because she is a symbol of freedom, she represents that timeless art, which we have somewhat forgotten in Italy. I would like it if there were characters like her again in Italy too, because it is important to be a light for the new generations, which is not just about being cool, beautiful and captivating, but about having an important background, something that allows us to speak with intelligence with culture. Today’s evening also includes performances by Kentowhich presents the new single “Free Toomaj” live for the first time, and Wayne Scottwho created a recording project of eleven songs by Lucio Quarantotto translated and interpreted into English. Scott he will then be the protagonist of the concert tomorrow, October 19th, “Forty-eight – 11 songs by Lucio Quarantotto” with Daniele Caldarini, Lorenzo Colace, Angapiemage Persico and Michele Staino.
