Tenco 2024, the second evening: Awards, guests and live shows
The 2024 edition of the Tenco Prize continues tonight, October 18, to turn the spotlight on Ariston Theater in Sanremo. After the first culminating event dedicated to the Plaques, today’s evening, always presented from Francesco Centotrame and Antonio Silvafeatures those who have made a significant contribution to Songwriting.
The second evening: the Tenco Awards 2024
With the midday press conference, followed by the screening of the film on Sergio Staino “Satira e Sogni” by David Riondino and the concert “Bobo song” by Gianni Coscia, Fabrizio Mocata and Michele Staino, the second day of the event opened, dedicated to the Canzone d’Autore, which this year celebrates the important milestone of 50 years.
After the afternoon appointments, the second evening features some of the artists awarded for the 2024 edition of Tenco Award: Edoardo Bennato, Mimmo Locasciulli and Teresa Parodi. Furthermore, the Yorum Award to Toomaj Salehithe Iranian rapper sentenced to death for “corruption on earth” by a revolutionary court. The Yorum Prize has been established in collaboration with Amnesty International Italia since 2020 to give visibility to artists who, often putting their lives at risk, fight for human rights and freedom of expression all over the world.
“In 2019 I came here with an amazing band, with whom I remember having done a super concert”, he says Mimmo Locasciullibefore presenting what to expect from his participation this evening at the Ariston Theater: “This year I am approaching a different humanity. I will play accompanied by the Pessoa Quartet, and each musician plays the instruments created from the wood of the migrants’ boats and made by the people detained in the Milanese prison of Opera”. With The Orchestra of the Seawhich debuted last February at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Locasciulli instead created the album “Where the gaze gets lost”.
The Tenco Prize is also awarded to an international artist, Teresa Parodian iconic figure of Argentine culture, an activist, a politician, a poet and one of the most representative singer-songwriters. “The first time I sang in Italy was thanks to Tosca. I had played a lot in Europe, but never in Italy. I love Tosca very muchI consider her a great artist, a great singer, a great musician and I love playing with her”, explains the artist chosen at Tenco by the Roman singer-songwriter, with whom Parodi presents on stage “The Cigarra” and a tribute to Sergio Endrigo.
The guests
In addition to the winners of the Tenco Prize, the stage of the Ariston Theater welcomes guests Francesco Tricarico, Kento, Wayne Scott And Tosca.
“It’s always a great pleasure and thrill to be at the Ariston,” he says Tricarico during the day. Today’s evening also includes performances by Kentowhich presents the new single “Free Toomaj” live for the first time, and Wayne Scottwho created a recording project of eleven songs by Lucio Quarantotto translated and interpreted into English. This evening at the Ariston there is also a version of “Con te partirò”, one of the Iconisci songs written by Forty-eight originally for Andrea Bocelli. Scott he will then be the protagonist of the concert tomorrow, October 19th, “Forty-eight – 11 songs by Lucio Quarantotto” with Daniele Caldarini, Lorenzo Colace, Angapiemage Persico and Michele Staino.
Tosca then brings some of her songs to the stageafter having joined Teresa Parodi on stage, of whom he says: “For me, bringing Teresa to Italy was and is very important because she is a symbol of freedom, she represents that timeless art, which we have somewhat forgotten in Italy I would like there to be characters like her again in Italy too, because it is important to be a light for the new generations, which is not just about being cool, beautiful and captivating, but about having an important background, something that allows us to talk. with intelligence with culture.
