Teho Teardo signs the soundtrack of “Portobello”

A few days after the release of the first episodes of the series, the soundtrack of “Portobello” arrives digitally on all the main platforms today. The music of the HBO series inspired by the Enzo Tortora case directed by Marco Bellocchio and presented out of competition at the Venice International Film Festival bears the signature of Teho Teardo.

The soundtrack published by CAM Sugar and Our Films includes 12 original songs composed by Teardo, winner of the David di Donatello for “Il divo” in 2009 and author of soundtracks for films such as “La Ragazza del Lago” and “Lavorare con lentezza” (Nastro d’Argento). The compositions are linked to one of the most anticipated Italian television projects of the year, going through the human drama and psychological implications of the legal case of Enzo Tortora, one of the most beloved faces of Italian television, arrested in 1983 on charges of belonging to the Camorra and drug trafficking which later proved to be unfounded.

The musician says:

The music I wrote for Marco Bellocchio’s Portobello develops along the trajectories of two key pieces: “Tortora per un po’” and “Conseguenze inexpectate”. In the first, Tortora goes through his nightmare with firmness, without ever exploding; in the second it is instead the world around him that explodes.”

The series is produced by Lorenzo Miele and Mario Gianani for Our Films, a Mediawan group company, and by Simone Gattoni for Kavac Film, in co-production with Arte France and in collaboration with Rai Fiction and The Apartment Pictures, a Fremantle group company, and debuted with the first two episodes on 20 February, with a new episode every week until 27 March. The screenplay by Marco Bellocchio, Stefano Bises, Giordana Mari and Peppe Fiori sees at the center of the narrative the intense interpretation of Fabrizio Gifuni in the role of Tortora, supported by a large cast that includes Lino Musella, Barbora Bobulova, Romana Maggiora Vergano and Alessandro Preziosi.
