Talking Heads have announced “New Feeling”his first official book, which will include unpublished archival material, handwritten lyrics and more content. The new coffee table book is due out on May 18, 2027 via Abraham Books, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of their debut album, “Talking Heads: 77”.

The 400-page book is made in collaboration with the four members of the group: David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrisonand brings together unpublished archival material, handwritten lyrics, first album covers, essays written by the musicians themselves and hundreds of photographs, in addition to other objects preserved in the band’s archive for decades. The text will cover their beginnings at the Rhode Island School of Design, their rise playing at CBGB and their consolidation as a recognized band, in addition to their 1984 concert film, “Stop Making Sense”. The limited editions will include a signed photo and a 19-piece wooden puzzle integrated into the cover.

Jerry Harrison explained, in a promotional video recorded with the rest of the band, that for the book they took handwritten lyrics, original album sketches and private photos that in some cases had not left their archive for more than 40 years.

The book announcement comes shortly after Talking Heads reunited for a talk hosted by This Haim on the occasion of the launch of a new channel SiriusXM. The group made their first joint public appearance in more than 20 years in 2023, at the Toronto International Film Festival, marking the anniversary of “Stop Making.”
