Supertramp: for two albums remastered for 50 years
Two albums of Supertramp, “Crime of the Century” And “Crisis? What Crisis?”are republished on 29 August in a remastered edition for their 50th anniversary. With the supervision of the band and co-producer Ken Scottthe project was treated by Miles Showell at the Abbey Road Studios.
This is what the press release says: originally published on 25 October 1974, “Crime of the Century” is the third album of the SuperTramps who marked an era and catapulted them to global success, making them enter for the first time in the top five of the United Kingdom and in the top 40 of the US Billboard. While the album accelerated the band’s global popularity, they wrote and recorded “Crisis? What Crisis?”, Which came out 13 months later, on November 28, 1975. The formation of the band was made up of Roger Hodgson, Rick Davies, Dougie Thomson, Bob Siebenberg and John Helliwell. “Crime” followed the exit of their homonymous debut album in 1970 and of “Indelibly Staved” of 1971, none of which had achieved great commercial success, and their record contract was now concluded.
Despite his final success, “Crime of the Century” was not an immediate success at his release. “Bloody Well Right” was the first single published in the United States, reaching the number 35 position of the Hot 100, but it was only with the release of “Dreamer”, in February 1975, that the song captured attention and success began to grow. He led him to be transmitted on the radio throughout the United Kingdom, reaching 13th place. As a result, the album entered the British top Five just before the band left for a tour in the United States. This proved to be a crucial moment: “Bloody Well Right” became the B side of “Dreamer”, laying the foundations for commercial success all over the world. “
