Subsonica, sweat and happiness in concert
“This is the 29th year of existence”: Samuel recalls during the concert how long the experience of Subsonic. The fact that the Alcatraz is full for two consecutive evenings (and the remaining tour dates give great satisfaction) gives the idea of how much these decades have not passed in vain, how the Turin quintet has been able to sow, cultivate and collect and that after so many years their “field” is not yet sterile.
But this present does not remain confined only in Italy. Samuel, Max Casacci, Vicio, Boost And Ninja They are returning from a tour in Europe where they performed for five evenings in clubs before returning to Italy for a series of shows that opened with the two Milanese dates.
With the last disc “Augmented reality” dating back to January 2024 and with the European tour just behind the Subsonica for the occasion they could afford to play with their repertoire. So present and past they joined with their style that mixes rock, dance, alternatives, electronics, grooves and melody creating a sound that is subsonic sound, which has always distinguished them and that evidently melts different elements that also like different generations.
Therefore, immediately the most recent times and the present, during the concert the Subsonica climbed to the time machine, grafted the reverse and made the public dance with pieces released, in the millennium and last century, reaching the sensational debut album and the subsequent “emotional microchip” (1999) filtered through the remixes of “temporal microchip” (2017).
In the intertwining of keyboards, on a rhythmic base that gutted groove and with the vocal melodies of Samuel the Turinese have a very specific sound grammar. With this they can (and do it) make the audience that follows them, and “also let it go,” taken well “by what the group proposes, jump and sing (also all together).
It is impossible to stay still, especially when you dive into history as the lineup proposes. Subsonics are unstoppable and contagious. Also from the point of view of the show, they rely on excellent plays of light but for the rest they let music driving everything, no distractions, for example no screens and images. The only concession to the show The Boosta keyboard wall with a three -level structure of tools and those in the same time “swinging”. With the Subsonica there is everything, there is music, there are musicians, ingredients already alone capable of keeping a concert and making it credible. To this are added the songs, some are real milestones of Italian pop rock music.
So, so much substance, we are on the other hand in a club, however large it is, where everything is more “near”, where for obvious reasons of space there can be no complex structures and superstructures as they had done in the tour of the buildings with the platforms that raised several meters high.
Once again the Subsonica give the demonstration of how important live and how the best in Italy are to stage the concerts, with the ability to involve the viewer and to let him out, as in this case, sweaty and happy. And it doesn’t matter if a nice rain awaits you outside.
