Stevie Wonder reveals unreleased songs from “Songs in the Key of Life”

After fifty years of success “Songs in the Key of Life”, Stevie Wonder reveals four original unreleased songs from the album “It’s Easier”, “My Life Story of Love”, “I Can See the Sun in Late December” and “I’m Into Livin'”.

“Songs in the Key of Life” was released in 1976, with 21 songs, after two years of intense work by Stevie Wonder. Soul, funk, jazz, gospel and pop coexist in it. The artistic ambition was accompanied by enormous commercial success, it is considered Wonder’s most ambitious and successful album.

The anniversary celebration comes with material that had been stored for half a century. Stevie Wonder has today released an EP that recovers unreleased songs from the extensive recording sessions of the ninety-minute album. The four songs have been selected by Wonder himself from the outtakes: “It’s Easier”, “My Life Story of Love”, “I Can See the Sun in Late December” and “I’m Into Livin’”.

“We didn’t include these songs on the album, but they were part of what I was feeling and discovering while we were making it,” says Wonder, who wrote and produced all the songs—the former member of The Supremes, Susaye Greeneco-wrote “My Life Story of Love”—and the album’s original engineers, John Fischbach and Gary O Adantethey came back to mix them. Wonder will begin an anniversary tour of the original album next month.

The four pieces show different facets of Stevie Wonder of the seventies. “We have lived with Songs in the Key of Life for fifty years, but there is still so much more to discover,” Wonder stated in a press release. “We didn’t add these songs to the album, but they were part of what I was feeling and discovering while we were creating it. They take me back to that time in my life, and now they can be part of yours.”
