Stevie Nicks: “I Was Admitted to Hospital for a Leg Infection”

Stevie Nicks She spoke about her health scare and subsequent hospitalisation which led to her having to postpone two UK concerts.

The Fleetwood Mac icon was forced to cancel a solo show in Glasgow earlier this month, hours before he was due to take the stage at the city’s OVO Hydro. He also cancelled a scheduled performance at Manchester’s Co-Op Live.

At the time, Nicks was said to have suffered a leg injury that required “minor surgery.”

The singer-songwriter was fortunately able to reschedule the postponed dates and played Manchester on July 16 and then concluded her two-year tour with a 15-song set in Glasgow on Wednesday July 24.

During her final concert in the Scottish city, Nicks explained that she was “really excited to be in Glasgow” and spoke about her health conditions that affected the tour.

“I don’t know what happened,” she told the audience. “I got this weird infection that was very painful.” Nicks later said she was staying at a “fabulous castle” in Scotland with some of her crew at the time, adding, “We get here days early because we wanted to stay for a few days.”

He continued: “I finally looked at my assistant – it was 2 a.m. – and I said, ‘I think we need to go to the emergency room.’ She looked at me and I said, ‘I’m not kidding! I think we need to go to the hospital.'”

“And so our “butler,” a wonderful man, put us in his car and we drove off into the night to the hospital.”

Nicks confirmed that she was hospitalized for two days. “They released me and we had to cancel this show that was scheduled,” she explained. “I’ve been struggling with what started here all tour and I’d be damned if I didn’t come back here.”

Before being able to reschedule her planned dates in Manchester and Glasgow and then forced to postpone them, Nicks performed a concert at BST Hyde Park in London, where she was joined on stage by Harry Styles (Read here).

The two performed a joint version of “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac in homage to Christine McVieon what would have been the late musician’s birthday.

They also performed “Stop Dragging My Heart Around“, Nicks’ 1981 collaboration with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

Mick Fleetwood, another former founding member of Fleetwood Mac, has said he would like to see a resumption of relations between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham in the future.
