Springsteen: “Nebraska is not a normal record”
The Boss is always the Boss. Also in the “Che Tempo Che Fa” studio where, in front of Fabio Fazio and together with Jeremy Allen White, he presented the long-awaited “Springsteen: libera me from nothing”, the first film on Bruce’s life which tells the genesis of “Nebraska“, the most intimate work that exposes all the fragilities of an artist at the peak of his career. “I don’t know if it’s a question of courage. Those were the years I went through a transition, for my mental health and my life in general. Nebraska it’s one of my favorite albums, It’s not a normal record. We wanted to give my character more drama and more music.”
“This movie is an emotional experience for me” Springsteen confesses regarding Scott Cooper’s film. “I’ve always tried to follow a muse and my muse is music. I’m not so worried about whether my album will be successful or not: I’m interested in giving truth and transcendence. It must have value for those who follow me because it is the guarantee that I give to my audience, which is my soul, the reason why I do all this.”
Pressed by the host on the American political climate, the Boss adds: “Our country has fought for freedom for 250 years, it has been an example of positive democracy. Naturally we have made many mistakes, but always trying to do our best. We have never had a history of autocracy. Now I believe that the situation is going in another direction and I will do my best to make sure that, with my little influence, things change.”
Over forty years after its release, “Nebraska” returns in one new expanded edition on four discs. How does it sound? We told it here.
