Spandau, Tony Hadley: “That’s why Reunion wouldn’t work”
A reunion of the Spandau Ballet? “It wouldn’t work.” Word of Tony Hadley. The 65 -year -old former 5 million band of copies sold closed the doors to a return of the group, after the recent opening of Gary Kemp: “A reunion? I hope he is doing,” said the guitarist of the Spandau Ballet. Words that to Tony Hadley, who left the group in 2017, two years before he melted, play “as a novelty”. Reached by Classic Pop Hadley explained the reasons why a spandau Ballet reunion would not work:
I don’t think it would work. I haven’t seen Gary, Martin or John for eight years. Steve is the only one with whom I have a vague contact. We spent some good moments, but unfortunately also ugly. It is life. We made ourselves beautiful laughter during the last tour, then unfortunately John fell ill and it was not the same without him. It was difficult.
Hadley then added:
I wish Gary, Martin and John the best, but I’m happy with what I do. I love the freedom I have now, the fact that I can go from a little swing to a little rock. It is not possible to do it inside the borders of a band.
After his exit from the Spandau Ballet, Hadley recorded two studio albums, “Talking to the Moon” and “The Mood I’m in”, the latter published just last year. The singer is currently on tour and will also stop in Italy: on August 26th he will perform at the Antico Theater in Taormina, on the 27th at the La Versiliana theater in Marina di Pietrasanta, on 28 at the Gardens of Castel Trauttmandsdorff in Merano, on 30 in Piazza della Vita in Civitavecchia, on September 2 at the Teatro Sociale in Sondrio and 3 at the Exndra of Palazzo Te in Mantua.
