Spandau Ballet, Martin Kemp: “How much do I have left? Ten years”
“How long do I have to live? I’ll be honest: ten years.” This is what Martin Kemp, the former bassist of Spandau Ballet, the beloved iconic band of the 80s, says. The 63-year-old British musician laid himself bare in an interview granted to the microphones of his son Roman’s podcast, “FFS! My dad is Martin Kemp”, and spoke openly about his life and health, also recalling his fight against brain tumor as a young person.
Kemp said:
When I went through all that brain tumor fear, I spent two years of my life thinking I was going to die. And I think, after that, everything else, every day, every year, every month that I lived, every experience that I had was a bonus. It’s really strange that when I was 34 and went through that brain tumor thing, I was pretty much resigned to the fact that I was going to die, but I was pretty happy with my lot, because I had had the most incredible experiences.
Then, when his son Roman asked him “How long do you think you have left to live?”, dad Martin said:
I’ll be very honest with you: ten years.
