Snoop Dogg’s surreal Christmas halftime show (with Bocelli)

The NFL has taken a liking to him halftime show. The classic one is at the Super Bowl, but last year one was added for the Christmas games, and a few weeks ago those for the Thanksgiving Day games. So yesterday a new “concert” took place at halftime of a football game – only it was definitely not on the level of the 2024 Christmas Beyoncé Bowl or the recent Jack White with Eminem and Post Malone Thanksgiving ones.
This year the honor, during the game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions live on Netflix, fell to Snoop Dogg, who organized a Christmas show with Andrea Bocelli and his son Matteo, the country singer Lainey Wilson and the singers from the series Demon Hunters, one of the great successes of Netflix which broadcast the event. All introduced by star Martha Stewart, who recited a fairy tale written for the occasion.

“It’s Christmas, and we’re about to do some of my favorite Christmas songs,” the rap icon told the audience before a choral performance of “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.” The more rap part with Snoop Doggg songs didn’t last long. Huntr/x arrived and sang “The 12 Days of Christmas,” while Lainey Wilson, who entered the stage on a sleigh, wearing a white winter overall and cowboy hat, performed “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.” It all ended with a surreal finale in which Bocelli sang “White Christmas” with fake snow falling with KPop singers Snoop and Lainey Wilson as backing vocalists.

Last year, the NFL debuted on Netflix on Christmas Day and during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Houston Texans there was another halftime show that rivaled that of the Superbowl. Beyoncé had presented Cowboy Carter and the event had been dubbed the “Beyoncé Bowl.”
