Slipknot: Corey Taylor and the time he “almost killed” Sid Wilson
In a recent interview for “Your Mom’s House,” Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor was asked his opinion on the recent onstage argument between Perry Farrell and Jane’s Addiction’s Dave Navarro. Sharing his thoughts on what happened in Boston, Taylor then recalled the time he “almost wanted to kill” the band’s DJ, Sid Wilson.
During the chat, the singer of the masked heavy metal group talked about an argument that took place after a concert of the group in London in 2001, during which – among other things – filming for the video album “Disasterpieces” was carried out.
To record the show, the members of Slipknot wore bodycams and were forbidden to get close to the audience to prevent the cameras from being stolen. Corey Taylor then narrated that Wilson apparently ignored that rule and his bodycam was actually taken by someone. Taylor then reportedly vented anger at his bandmate backstage. Looking back on the moment now, of which there is footage on YouTube, the singer said (as reported by “Blabbermouth“): “Sid is one of my best friends, he’s like my brother, but I almost killed him once.
We were at the London Docklands Arena, recording ‘Disasterpieces’. Sid did exactly what we told him not to do. And I was really pissed. I was also drunk, which didn’t help.”
Calling the video of the fight “taken out of context,” Taylor continued: “Sid didn’t understand why we were angry. I was black with anger. And he just said, ‘You have to tell him to give back the fucking camera.’ And I just turned to him, like, ‘Shut the fuck up…'”
Reliving that moment now, however, Taylor expressed remorse for how he treated Sid Wilson and explained: “It was one of the cruelest moments of my life. To this day I feel bad about it. And it’s a real, public moment that everyone they can see. And taken out of context, it’s even more horrific.”
Regarding what happened to Jane’s Addiction, Corey Taylor said: “It was my wife who woke me up to show me what had happened.
I stayed there, it was sad because I know them both. Dave Navarro is one of the sweetest souls on the planet. Perry is also very sweet. He has never been anything but kind to me. And seeing this, I don’t understand what’s happening. And obviously, I don’t want to make assumptions.” In addition to saying he was sorry for the decision of Farrell and his companions to cancel the tour, looking forward to seeing the original line-up play live again, Taylor added: “There are so many stories about their relationship, who the fuck knows what the truth is this point? So I just hope Perry is okay. I hope Dave is okay. I texted Dave to see how he’s doing and he said ‘fine’. But, obviously, it doesn’t mean anything because right now they’re just trying to figure out what the fuck they’re going to do.”
