Slash's Favorite AC/DC Song

Slash’s Favorite AC/DC Song

In a recent interview with 95.5 KLOS’s Matt Pinfield, the guitarist of Guns N’ Roses Slash was asked to name his favorite album of the AC/DC. Saul Hudsonthis is the real name of the guitarist, expressed himself thus: “”Powerage” (fifth album of the Australian band from 1978, ed.).

It’s probably still one of my favorite AC/DC records. But by the time I got into them, “Highway To Hell” had come out. That’s how I got into them. Then, through that record, I heard “Powerage” and thought, ‘Wow, what a record.’ That got me into the whole AC/DC catalog. Then Bon Scott died. And then, in quick succession, Brian (Johnson, AC/DC’s lead singer) came into play.”

slash He continued: “One of the biggest years for metal in the ’80s was 1980, ‘Back In Black’ came out, then Ozzy’s ‘Diary Of A Madman’ came out and all that. Sabbath’s ‘Heaven And Hell’ came out. It was a huge, huge year for rock.’”

Returning to talk about his love for
“Powerage”
,
slash
he said: “‘Down Payment Blues’ was the song that really hit me. It’s still, to this day, one of my favorite rock and roll songs of all time.”

In November 2020,
slash
he praised the
AC/DC
and their then last album
“Power Up”

), then just published.

In an interview with Consequence he explained: “Obviously I have a long history with AC/DC, and then Axl sang with them for a while, filling in for Brian, so we kind of reconnected during that time. The tragedy of losing Malcolm (Young, AC/DC’s founding rhythm guitarist and brother of Angus who passed away in 2017), the fact that Angus and company survived it all and kept going, in the spirit of what Malcolm probably would have done, was great. I love those guys because as far as rock ‘n’ roll goes, they’re just driven. (…) AC/DC is a great example of longevity. It’s a great example of tenacity and perseverance, a great example of talent and a great example of what rock ‘n’ roll is all about. So, I’m really excited for them to keep doing it.”

From
“Power Up”
said at the time: “Then on top of that, they make a really great record. It’s a really inspired album. I’ve been listening to it in my car for the last couple of days and it’s probably going to be there for a while. It’s exciting for me, I’m happy for them. I can’t wait for this virus situation to be over so we can go check them out on tour somewhere.”
