Slash and his thoughts on the current music scene
Recently interviewed by “MNPR Magazine”, Slash shared his thoughts on the current music scene. The Guns N' Roses guitarist, who released a solo album of twelve blues covers, “Orgy of the Damned” (here our review here), last May 17th, explained during the chat, as transcribed by “Blabbermouth”: ” I really like that it's happening in the blues scene, it's vibrant right now. I wish the rock scene was great too, I think there are a lot of good musicians.”
He added: “I see that there are a lot of young people who play rock and roll on their own, away from the record companies and the bullshit that was happening in the 90s and the first decade of the millennium. They just create their own music for themselves, without try to get some money or a big record deal. They don't have the ambition of limousines and sexy girls. It's just about the music: it's a beautiful and important thing, because I think this could bring the rock scene back to the top, which there anyway It will always be”.
On the sidelines of the interview, Slash also talked about the artists he listens to most at the moment and said: “In general I listen to many of the artists I've always listened to. I find the new Black Crowes album fantastic, as well as that of Queens of the Stone Age. There's a couple others that I've found to be great. So I'm not saying new names, but there are new recent records that I listen to.”
In addition to having released “Orgy of the Damned”, Slash was busy on tour until April with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, with whom the guitarist released his fourth studio album (here is our review) last year and went on stage for an Italian concert on April 23rd at the Forum in Assago (here is our story of the evening).
