Sherocks celebrates female talent in “Raising Voices Madrid”

The Sherocks Foundation held its first European event in Madrid in advance of the Sherocks Festival.

Carmen Lillo, Yoly Saa, Gala Nell, Laia Alcolea and Joanna Crassperformed at the event, being selected to participate in the Icon Camp Lanzarote to be held between April 5 and 9, 2027, thanks to the foundation and selected by +Músicas for their “talent, career and creative potential.”

After the success of previous editions in the United States and Brazil, the SheRocks foundation presented its first event in Europe last Friday, at the UMusic Hotel Madrid, at the Piano Bar Casa Chicote. Raising Voices Madrid 2026 was the foundation’s letter of introduction on the continent and the next chapter of a growing international movement with the aim of expanding access, visibility and opportunities for women in the creative industry.

The foundation, led by Dr. Emily Weeks, aims to expand opportunities for women in the creative industry and showcase their talent. The event brought together artists, cultural leaders, entrepreneurs and changemakers to celebrate music, creativity and female leadership, highlighting the talent of women in the fields of music, arts and entrepreneurship, while promoting sustainable and community-driven solutions around the world.

The Piano Bar of UMusic Hotel was the setting for five showcases of artists that represent the SheRocks spirit: Yoly Saa, Gala Nell, Laia Alcolea, Carmen Lillo and Joanna Crass. At the end of the five performances, the jury made up of Dr. Emily Weeks, Kelly Ann Collins, Beto Cordeiro, Arantza M Huarte and Julia Merighe, selected Carmen Lillo as a confirmed artist for the SheRocks Festival 2027, which will take place at the Albéniz Theater in March 2027. This event will expand the Foundation’s emblematic festival series to Europe for the first time on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which began in the Washington DC area in 2025 and expanded to São Paulo in 2026.
