Shakira, her tour in Colombia is worth 155 million dollars

Shakira concluded her Colombian tour with results that set a new record in the countryconfirming a tour already marked by records in North and South America. The final series of nine concerts in Colombia represented an unprecedented achievement for the country. The tour generated an estimated economic impact of more than $155 million, the highest ever for a national artiststrengthening Shakira’s role in the Colombian economic and cultural landscape.

More than 370,000 spectators attended the shows in the four cities visited: Bogotá, Barranquilla, Cali and Medellín. The last stage was held on Saturday in Bogotá, at the Vive Claro Cultural District, with a sold out concert. On that occasion Shakira performed “La Pared” together with the Bogotá Women’s Philharmonic Orchestra. The choice of song recalls the twentieth anniversary of the album “Fijación oral vol. 1”, released in 2005and wanted to enhance the Colombian music scene and the collaboration with an all-female ensemble.

These results are in addition to the two records already achieved in the North American phase of the tour. Shakira is the first Latin artist to sell out Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. With approximately 50,000 spectators, the opening of the North American leg was the best attended ever for a Latin artist in the United States. After the passage to South America, with over 200,000 attendees in the first ten datesand sold out stops in cities like Miami, Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles and San Diego, the tour will continue with thirteen new performances in Mexico.
