Selmi and his songwriting puzzle

A delicate voice, but at the same time intense, a writing that does not pursue difficult solutions or complications, but aims for the truth. “It hasn't always helped me to speak in a world where many words are no longer understood. Then I started to think that the problem wasn't the words.” Selmi released his first EP “Perderci nell'attimo”. “What drives me to tell my story is more of a cathartic necessity, I hope that people somehow want to read about it – says Selmi – these songs were composed several months apart from each other, I write a lot and to select them I followed a path more similar to a puzzle, a sort of chromatic scale that is composed at the end of the ep.” His music follows the volatility of his mood, capable of taking him through highs and lows without any warning. Contrasting genres, which always maintain their own identityrevealing a reflective soul and writing that releases sincerity.

In April the artist will perform live in two events in Rome and Milan: on 7 April at the Alcazar in Rome and on 11 April at the Circolo Biko in Milan. The project was anticipated by the single “Doccia Ghiaccia”, the first to be released by Asian Fake. The song was presented by Selmi at the X Factor 2023 auditions and which, in the midst of a path marked exclusively by unreleased songs, led him to live performances. Niccolò Selmi was born in 2001 in Lucca, the young singer-songwriter chose his surname as his stage name. Raised in a musically rich environment, he became passionate about music from an early age and cultivated the dream of writing and composing his own songs. A former waiter, he says he approached composition to find refuge in a difficult moment in his life: for him music is a fundamental aid in finding contact with the world, allowing him to communicate. In 2022 he therefore published his first original song, “Festa (ciao Principessa)”, followed in 2023 by other singles such as “Il Re Cambia Semper”, “Scarico” and “Di Noi”. In the same year he took part in the X Factor, passing all the selections and winning the live phase in Morgan's team.
