Sabrina Carpenter: “Meeting McCartney? Like ‘Stranger Things'”

In an episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert released this week, Sabrina Carpenter appeared as a guest to promote “A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter,” the special that arrived on Netflix earlier this month, described as a “musical special Christmas variety” by the pop star herself. Colbert asked Carpenter about his apparent love of the Beatles’ music, to which he responded by rewinding his childhood memories. “When I was very, very little, my dad made me listen to ‘Rocky Raccoon’ for the first time and I was so fascinated by that song and his writing that I fell in love with Paul McCartney,” she said.

Then she continued: “I was convinced that he was my husband, my future husband. But he was quite old. And I was so young that I didn’t understand that he was much older than me… So when I grew up I just fell in love with him way of writing songs”. She recalled meeting him with “tears in her eyes”: “He was so normal and casual and he was so charming that I felt like I was entering an alternate universe,” she said. “Like ‘Upside Down’ vibes. Like Stranger Things, but way happier than Stranger Things,” he concluded.
