Roger Waters: "This is not a drill" at the cinema and becomes an album

Roger Waters: “This is not a drill” is the best -selling physical record

Roger Waters’ latest album, founder and creative mind of the legendary Pink Floyd, debuts directly in the top of the Top of the Music Fimi/Gfk Italia ranking – CD, Vinyls and Mussarestete (widespread on August 8). Available in box 4 LP, DVD, double CD, Blu-ray and digital (official link), the work was recorded on May 25, 2023 at the O2 Arena in Prague, during what Waters called his “first real farewell tour”. “This is not a drill – Live from Prague the Movie” (Legacy Recordings / Sony Music) It is an intense and visionary show that denounces capitalist dystopia and invites to resist, dedicated “to our brothers and sisters engaged in the existential battle for the soul of humanity”. The ladder includes 20 iconic songs by Pink Floyd and Waters, including “Us & Them”, “Comfortably Numb”, “Wish You Were here”, “Is This The Life We Really Want?” And the unpublished “The Bar”.

On stage, Waters is flanked by Jonathan Wilson, Dave Kilminster, Jon Carin, Gus Seyffert, Joey Waronker, Robert Walter, Shanaay Johnson, Amanda Belair and Seamus Blake. The concert, filmed in 8K with directed by Sean Evans, is also a film distributed in Italy by Nexo Studios, with remastered audio and images of exceptional sharpness. There are still those who really believe in farewell tours? In 2022 Roger Waters had announced “This is not a Drill” as his “first farewell tour”, but everything suggests that the last one may have been. Between July and October of that year he crossed the United States and Canada, and then landed in Europe in the spring of 2023. The tour ended at the end of 2023 with a handful of dates in South America. Since then, silence. No signal, no ad. In September Roger Waters will turn 82, and the hypothesis of a return to the stage appears more and more remote. Precisely for this reason, the publication has the flavor of a farewell. NOn only by tours, but perhaps from an entire way of conceiving the live show: monumental, engaging, immersive.
