Robbie Bennett (The War on Drugs) announces two solo albums

Robbie Bennett, keyboardist The War on Drugswill release two albums before the end of the year. “Steloken” and “Circulation” They will be out on December 11th via American Dreams and will add twenty-nine new songs to Bennett’s solo catalog. Bennett has already previewed one song from each album: “Sister” by “Steloken” and “The Light on Your Face” by “Circulation”.

Both works arrive after their debut album in 2020, “Permanent World”. To compose them, Robbie Bennett used the same keyboard he plays on The War on Drugs, sending a MIDI signal from an acoustic piano to an Oberheim OB-X8 synthesizer, so that both instruments will sound at the same time. He then added layers of Fender Rhodes, vocoder, and Soma Terra, a microtonal synthesizer with gyroscope and pressure sensors.

The announcement comes after Bennett last month featured on “Who’s That,” The War on Drugs’ first new song since 2022. The band has not released a studio album since “I Don’t Live Here Anymore” (21), although in 2024 they released their second live album of their career, “Live Drugs Again”.
