50 years of "but the sky is increasingly blue": vinyl and collection

Rino Gaetano’s rediscovered manuscript comes to life

“E io ci sto” – contained in the album of the same name released 45 years ago – is one of the most representative songs of Rino Gaetano. Thanks to the director Nicolò Bassettothe song lives again today with a video clip born from a manuscript found by the singer-songwriter, who imagined giving life to the song with scenes shot between the streets of Rome and the sunset of Capri. Bassetto takes up that never realized intuition and turns it into a filmshot entirely on film, available on digital platforms from 2pm on November 21st.

Filmed between Rome and Capri, just as Rino Gaetano would have wanted, the video becomes a bridge between eras: Gaetano’s voice and pen and Bassetto’s gaze, which try to return the singer-songwriter’s bitter smilespokesperson for a generation that never stops searching, asking questions and affirming its presence in the world, despite being aware of its limits and defeats.

In the video, the young protagonist, played by Giovanni Maini, walks through Rome posting a sign with the words “you are your war”: a symbolic gesture that summarizes the soul of the song, a declaration of belonging and resistance. Also participate as a special guest Alessandro Gaetanonephew of the singer-songwriter.

The video work comes out on the occasion of 45th anniversary of the album “E io ci sto”, which is celebrated with a re-release out on November 21st for Sony Music Italy on vinyl and CD.

Nicolò Bassetto contributed to the creation of several Italian video clips, including “Piazza San Marco” by Annalisa ft. Mengoni, “Love in the mouth” by the French Saints, “Say it only in the dark” by Elisa and “Ragni” by Tananai.
