Ringo Starr paid homage to “Sgt. Pepper’s ”by Beatles
To celebrate his 100th anniversary, Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry hosted Ringo Starr. The former Beatles released his solo “Look up” solo album last January. The legend of rock music, 84, chose T Bone Burnett to produce the project, and also called the Stars of the Bluegrass Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle, the acclaimed duo Lankin Poe and the darling of the Grammy Alison Krauss. The album, consisting of eleven songs, is the first complete album of Starr in six years and its first complete country project in more than fifty.
The artist, at the Opry, last Friday, presented a set of songs that included songs from his new album, and beyond, and a Beatles classic: “With a Little Help from My Friends”, song from “SGT . Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band ”, eighth Beatles album. “Time on My Hands” also in the ladder from his latest album country and “Act Naturally”. “As you have noticed, I dressed a little elegant tonight,” said Starr from the stage. “I am a cowboy inside. This is a great honor and an incredible moment for me. I loved country music when I was little. It was a dream to go so far. I want to thank all those who made this possible all this,” he continued. His debut at the Opry was the crowning of a demanding week for the member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He performed at the showcase of his label, Team Umg Live, at the Ryman 16th Anniversary and inaugurated a new exhibition at the Musician’s Hall of Fame. “It was a really magical week – he concluded – I wish everyone peace and love”.
