Record Store Day returns on Saturday 18 April, the international day dedicated to independent record shops.
For the 2026 edition, the ambassador is Bruno Mars, who on this occasion releases “The Collaborations”, a collection that brings together his most iconic encounters: from “Uptown Funk” with Mark Ronson to “Die With A Smile” with Lady Gaga, up to the recent hit “APT.” with ROSÉ.
Also notable is the meeting between John Densmore, historic drummer of the Doors, and Chuck D of Public Enemy with the album “No Country for Old Men”, signed with the alias doPE. Another prominent release is signed by Robert Plant with the EP “Saving Grace: All That Glitters…”, which explores folk and American roots through specially recorded songs by Gillian Welch and Bert Jansch. Added to these is Bruce Springsteen with “Live From Asbury Park 2024”, a monumental quintuple album.
As always, there are numerous releases that celebrate the anniversaries and history of rock. The journey through time starts from the fifty years of “Calling Card” by Rory Gallagher (produced by Roger Glover of Deep Purple) and “On Parole” by Motörhead, the latter remixed by Steven Wilson. We then move on to the forty years of “Some Candy Talking” by Jesus And Mary Chain, Dinosaur Jr. of “Live in Hollywood” and Bob Mold with the reissue of “Body of Song”, the return of “Being Boiled” by the Human League and the Soft Cell remixes inspired by the “Danceteria” club, while punk is celebrated by the twenty-five years of “Jubilee” by the Sex Pistols.
Other anniversaries: thirty-five years of “Welcome To My Dream” by MC 900 ft. Jesus and the thirtieth anniversary of “This Film’s Crap, Let’s Slash the Seats”, David Holmes’ debut available on vinyl for the first time. Also announced are “Echo Dek” by Primal Scream, “Live À L’Olympia” by Jeff Buckley, “MTV Unplugged” by Tony Bennett, “God’s Son” by Nas, “Read My Lips” by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, “All The Roadrunning” by Mark Knopfler & Emmylou Harris and “African Project Remixes” by St. Germain.
The Expanded Edition of “Small Craft On A Milk Sea”, by Brian Eno together with Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams, is located in research territories.
Here are the releases by Italian artists: “Divenire” by Ludovico Einaudi, three colored editions of Litfiba (“17 Re”, the 45 rpm of “Gioconda” / “Il Volo” and the 12” of “X”), the colored versions of “Più di me” and “Più di te” by Ornella Vanoni, the double vinyl of “Radio Station” by Patty Pravo, and three releases by Mina: “Inediti 1963/1967”, extracted from the recent box set ““Mina 1963–1967: Rarità e Versioni Alternative”, “Live 1970” and the reissue of the 1974 album “Mina”.
The complete list of all the records available in Italian stores will soon be online on the website www.recordstoredayitalia.com.
